FEBRUARY IS PARENT LEADERSHIP MONTH
National Parent Leadership Month, celebrated each February, serves as a powerful reminder of the vital role parents play not only within the family unit but also in the broader community. This month-long celebration highlights the importance of supporting parents as leaders and strong voices for their children and communities. By recognizing and supporting parents, we foster environments where families can thrive, and communities become more resilient and interconnected. Public awareness during this month aims to uplift parents who contribute in a variety of ways to community well-being, encouraging a collaborative spirit and shared responsibility. This celebration underscores the idea that when parents are supported and empowered, children are nurtured, and communities are strengthened, resulting in a more vibrant and cohesive society.
Here's how everyone can show their support: Share the message that the well-being of children and families is directly related to if they live in supportive, strong, inclusive, and stable communities. Here's how:
- Promote parent involvement and share activities for parents coming up in your community.
- Share information about Parent Leadership Month in your newsletter.
- Consider highlight parents in your public awareness efforts.
- Send encouraging cards or postcards to parents and caregivers in your life with encouraging words.
- Follow the Maine Children's Trust on Facebook and share our posts during February. Tag the Trust @MaineChildrensTrust and use hashtags #ParentLeadershipMonth
